A few years ago I spent time in the area, even witnessing the removal of the JC Boyle Dam. The hope has always been that native salmon runs would be restored after the obstructions to flow were removed. The fish have indeed begun to return, but it hasn’t been easy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis painting has also been difficult. I tried many times to paint it in a similar size to the piece entitled Opening the Klamath, but it would never come together. So, just like the struggle the fish face, this painting reflects the barriers that still remain—but some fish are making it home.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMore than a landscape, Coming Home tells a story of perseverance, restoration, and hope.
